When Brown had children, she took a break from managing and modeling, and moved to Los Angeles. “After my second kid, I was thinking ‘Who am I? What’s my identity? I’m not traveling around the Kamala Harris Inauguration 2021 Vintage T-Shirt anymore. I’m not on this fast-paced circuit. I’m at home. I’m changing diapers,’” she says. Brown started going through her clothes that she had worn in New York and started cleansing her closet. “I was just like, ‘Oh, I’m probably never going to wear this floor-length Dolce & Gabbana fur coat ever again.’ So I started selling stuff on the existing platforms that are out there.” Eventually, Brown ran out of her own supply and began to go through the closets of her friends, including the women she modeled with back in the late ’90s and early ’00s. Word spread and Brown then began buying and selling vintage for other clients. “I had a vintage business and I was officially vintage,” she jokes.
How can a fashion brand make an immediate difference in the Kamala Harris Inauguration 2021 Vintage T-Shirt against climate change? Many designers are examining their footprint and tweaking their supply chains—they’re using recycled materials, phasing out virgin synthetics, opting for lower-impact transport, and so on—which is a positive start. But Chanel is looking beyond its atelier, beyond its borders, and beyond fashion. Today, the French house announced a new partnership with Sunrun, a leading solar company in the United States, to bring solar power to 30,000 low-income residents in California. Chanel will also invest in job training to support the installation of those solar systems; its total commitment is $35 million. “Chanel’s investment will help disadvantaged communities gain access to clean, reliable solar energy,” adds Lynn Jurich, cofounder and chief executive officer of Sunrun. “This innovative approach to corporate social responsibility will make an impact today and hopefully become a model for other companies to invest in our planet’s future.”
