Any person who has travelled the world and experienced the challenge of communicating (as well as the grace and patience showed to them by their foreign host) would never be so condescending as to utter the words, ‘You’re in America or Britain so speak English. Whilst English might be considered a universal language, it is still a foreign language to millions of people in the world. And, as an adult, learning a foreign language well enough to conduct meaningful conversations is bloody hard. Near impossible for some people.
Pakistan is a beautiful country. My hometown of New Cumberland, West Virginia is a beautiful place. As different as they may be, each place usually has far more in common than most think. So, it helps to keep an open mind when you explore different places. Being kind goes a long way, in my experience.
