being able to afford it. As long as they are recruiting the best candidates it shouldn’t matter if they are all from the same school. A fair way would be to hide the name and location of the Tupac Ain’t nothin but a Christmas party Sweatshirt School and judge purely on entry criteria. Someone more deserving from a state school shouldn’t be overlooked in favor of less deserving from Eton but in the same way, a private school graduate who is a better candidate shouldn’t be overlooked for a state school student just because the University has to “widen its intake area”.
I never understood why we are surprised that state school students don’t go to Oxford or Cambridge. I can’t think of anything worse than spending 3 years in the Tupac Ain’t nothin but a Christmas party Sweatshirt company of privileged, entitled, moneyed aristocrats or wannabees. Isn’t it because the education is so much better in private schools than state schools. If that wasn’t the case then nobody would pay privately. Wish I had the money to send my kids to private school.
